Few interviewers have the ability to make the person they are interviewing completely comfortable enough to go beyond a "surface level". Steve, you got the goods! Great job, man! This made my year. For me, the ultimate outcome of an interview is when it is motivational and informative. I'll be listening to this over and over.

I really dig how much Dave just let's his thoughts ooze out of him- very honest and organic. While the subject of being a musician vs a drummer is a common thread with a lot of the greats, Dave really has a simplicity and elegance to his thoughts and his playing- pretty heavy.

And he's SO FUCKING RIGHT about the clave stuff- it's everywhere!

Steve- have you considered doing more of this stuff? Perhaps in starting an HOD podcast?
