Um.....errr what?

My thoughts exactly.

A guy on a UK drum forum, who apparently has some inside information, is claiming that Peter has switched from DW. I've no idea how true the claims/rumours are but the above photo is from Sakae's twitter feed.

From Sakae Facebook page (above the pic posted):

"Legendary drummer Peter Erskine with our Trilogy Series during his tour in Japan"

Nothing listed....

Hhummm interesting... Any words on what may be up?

Too funny.. Now I know what's up... Image with Peter on the Sakea kit was blocked where I logged in from earlier  ... So he has indeed switched... Dunno who the local distributer will be but would sure like to try them.

They have decent sound samples on their website. Very nice. Doesn't look like they make bass drum pedals yet.

I put up a link in the big Weckl announcement thread. It was Dave playing in front of Terry, Neil, Mike Pornoy and some dude never heard. They all played the same kit in front of each other. After Dave played Terry was impressed. Neil commented in his usual analytical way. They were demoing sabian cymbals. Dave said we all have our own voice. Neil, Terry and Mike all demoed the kit/cymbals and they brought out certain characteristics of the cymbals. Same goes for drums. When Dave came in to guest speak at Musicans Institue in Ralph Humphries class a few decades ago he sat down at a piece of shit kit with crapy cymbals. He hardly played but what he played he sounded like him. Owen Goldmen did his best to tune the drums with new heads and average cymbals. Dave has mad skill. It doesn't matter what kit Peter, Dave, Terry plays. If u put Weckl on a mid range pearl or DW kit he would sound amazing. Without mics. If u witness these guys play acousticly you can hear their own voice.

before this thread gets out of hand regarding Erskine leaving DW for Sakae, this would be false. I spoke to Peter and he wanted me to post saying "i am not switching drum companies, merely played a Sakae kit in an Osaka jazz club"

Makes sense. What were his thoughts on the kit?
