I'm Ready for your Critique of my first Youtube Video

Postby jean krupa » Sun Mar 17, 2013 2:12 pm

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eiMCL_aVOaI

I finally completed a video project that I had in mind
as the 50th anniversay of Wipeout is approaching on 7-6-1963.

Let me know the good, bad and ugly.

Sean Rickman played all guitars, bass and keyboards,
AND set up all cameras and carried the hand held camera,
did sound and lighting then took a week to mix, transfer and edit everything.

If I sound the least bit good, it's due to Sean Rickman.

You might find the gag reel almost as funny as my drumming....

HODers....someone feel free to post the actual clip here to eliminate
having to click my link above....thanks.

Yeah nice job, and nice Sonors, Lites and is that a 4" Lite snare with a DeJohnette head? I have some scandi lites with DeJohnettes all around, sounds killer!

Nice job on the project! That drum head has to be one of the coolest things I've ever seen.

Steve Gadd on wipeout!! It's hard not to have Gadd as an influence....

I liked a lot of the ideas you had. Gadd-influenced yes, but it wasn't all Gadd. I loved how the snare sounded. Bass drum could have came up in the mix a little more - but I am listening to this on computer speakers at work. All drums sounded pretty good as well as the cymbals.

I guess I would just say... it was just a little too long? Par down the idea's slightly - choose the best ones and keep it shorter...to me, that makes it "pop" a little more..wham bam...nail them with the good stuff and get out. Now keep in mind, I like shorter songs in general...but with something that is repetitive like a 12 bar structure...etc etc. You did attempt to change it up with the music, I'll say that.

Good job! first video too! -Mark

Hi Rodge,

Yes, This is the same Sean that was here.

I've know Sean for years...He lives here in MD.
As noted, he played all Guitars (bass, leads, rhythm, and keys)
and set up all cameras, mics, lights and edited.

He is big on musicians doing this for themselves in order to
survive in this music business. He knows no other way than
to produce yourself and have control over everything you can...
From the distribution, producing, music, sound, to wardrobe, etc.

This is the same Sean that was picked by Wayne and Herbie
to do last year's TRIBUTE TO MILES Tour with Sean Jones and Marcus Miller.

I'm sure you have seen clips on youtube of these European Concerts.
