thx Paul, Bill's such and inspiration (matched grip, oh wuts up traditional grip ;) ) Seriously, He's one of the great contemporary Jazz drummers of our time. Will try and catch one of the later shows...

He plays with sticks that are as thick as a pencil. Bizarre.

Wow bummer for him. Even if they made good hardware the tom sound is in-exusable.
How did Bill sound?

Bill was incredible. He has a very big dynamic range. From ppp with brushes to fff with a slamming wrist flick back beat. He actually held the sticks using traditional grip for about eight bars of one tune.

I didn't like the sound of the drums. Small room, and I was sitting close, so I was hearing unadulterated DW Jazz drums. Bill made them sound better than I could, that's for sure.

I thought he was a Yamaha guy now? Maybe he couldn't score a kit?
I saw him at Catalina's years ago, a very unique drummer. Interesting he tried trad grip for a bit. I wonder how much he messes with it.
I really7 like him on the Metheny/Scofield "I Can See Your House From Here".....particularly "Everyone's Party" (am I remembering that name correctly?).
