Hi Everyone. I've written a beginner snare drum book and am now looking to input it into a notation software. I've done some testing and it appears that Sibelius will the best software for the job (if I am mistaken here, please let me know!) In my messing around I've learned a lot but I'm finding this is something where I'd save a lot of frustration by finding help from someone who understands drum notation.

Are any of you really handy with this software? I'm finding it difficult to understand how to get:

1) snare drum ornaments (flams, drags, five-stroke rolls etc.) in there
2) the page laid out how i want it with 10-12 numbered four-bar exercises per page and a small paragraph on top


If this is too much of a task to explain in a reply here, please let me know if you'd be willing to show me via phone or skype. I'm willing to hire someone to help me get on track!

Personally, I'd invest time to learn it myself rather than to pay someone. Especially if they're only snare exercises. If you're even a bit predisposed towards computers you'll be able to get that software step by step. Obviously, Sibelius is the ultimate notation software so there's a whole load of functionalities to discover but you don't need that all at once. Sibelius' main competitor in the same segment is probably Finale, which is awesome too. I personally write all my stuff on GuitarPro 6, just because it's easy to write, whether it's standard notation or tabs. I've always found it somewhat less intimidating than the other two. Not to mention the price, which is a fraction of the other ones.

Just offering advice. I sincerely think that the best thing you can do is just to sit down and start getting to grips with it. Good luck!
