He's very relatable...think of ALL the amazing drummers
out there and ALL the instructional videos...he cut
through and that says something.

He does bring drumming down to the average person
and that is where the greatest market is. He's a
good looking guy, in shape, the guy you could meet
at the market and talk to...open up to and share
a struggle with...and he would listen to you.

In the end, like any musician, it is the art of
connecting to your audience. He's got that Mike
Rowe thing going for him.

UGH. Please don't compare him to Mike Rowe. I actually look up to Mike Rowe. And Mike Rowe would never drive a BMW. :-)

"Typical bashing from someone trying to do the same thing MJ is doing."

Nina, it's OK for someone to not like something.

In that promo video, what is odd is Mike setting up the strawman of people in the audience being all bitchy about other drummers, and Mike having the solution to it.

That's kinda skeevy.

His lessons are useful and he does put out a pro product, no doubt.

But did some video company just find him out of the blue and ask to produce a video for him? Was it gratis?

Nothing ever is...

I think the video company is legit... Looking at their website, they seem like a young up and coming company that wants and needs different cool stuff to shoot.. A self made drumming teacher that is doing well is a great story..

I wasn't bashing Mike in the same way that his you tube/forums peoples do. Just his tactics in marketing. I've never cut his teaching or playing.

That said..

Sell outs in the music industry are my pet peeve...and that's an understatement.

I don't think Mike is a sellout.. He's built a great drum lessons structure and does provide quality instruction.

I just don't like the tactics of his marketing.. I talked with him,. I can't remember if he phoned or I did.. I think he phoned me...
He was a nice guy.. not a dick,....but totally driven to market himself, came across as a used car salesman.... He sells this many drumsticks,, blah blah blah more than anybody else at guitar centers ect, ect.. He fully stated his intentions was to get traffic on his site from this forum and others...

I don't think he started out wanting to cause shit... just here to promote himself.. but somewhere along the line he took offense and went to the dark side...
