To Whom to WILL my $1 Million Autographed Head- IDEAS ?

Postby jean krupa » Thu Jun 26, 2014 7:29 pm

Some of you may have seen my post of several years ago of a 16" calf hide head I started to collect autographs
on when I was 16 y.o. I'm 65 y.o. now and have quite a few. I will list them below - hoping it works.

I am in the process, as most 50+ men should be, of processing my Irrevocable Trust.
In addition to the 14 sets of high end Sonor & Vintage Sonor Drum sets, I have many,
many boots of Vinnie. I have collected them and made them since 1980. I'm the one
who put up for trade the Joan Rivers compilation about 7 years ago, digitizing my
VHS and Beta tapes to DVD.

Anyway, do you have any serious suggestions as to what Smithsonian -like institution
would be an appropriate home for this head? Zildjian Drum Factory in MA is a possiblity,
although I have never asked them. I tend to favor musical institutions more than
warehouses. I want it to be viewed by namy. Maybe even Berklee ( I attended in 1968).

I am open to your suggestions. Then I hope to get around to my Colaiuta audio and video
boots....but FIRST things FIRST.
Thanks
P.S. When one attends a Basie concert and you go backstage to meet Sonny,
you wind up getting Count. When you go backstage to say hi to Peter Erskine at a Weather
Report Concert, and there's Jaco, Wayne and Joe, you also ask for theirs.

That's one cool drum head. No Simon Phillips?

Might I suggest the Rhythm Discovery Center? It's the Percussive Arts Society Museum in Indianapolis, IN. They have hundreds of historical items on display. I think that it would be a great destination for such a cool drum head. I could help you contact Jeff Hartsough regarding this if you are interested.
