?

Not in my book, no. Guys honing the craft, those who live to play are the real mvp.

In the end, numbers speak loudly, especially today!

It is interesting that the two most popular videos by far are Lee Sklar and Vinnie.
Then it drops fast...the less popular personalities average 1k views where Lee
has 187k and Vinnie 150k...so, this stuff ain't gonna hit a large market, but the
"info" is out there in overdose for those who are interested. Again, it is very
difficult to get an audience even with interviewing some very significant music
personalities. Don Randi has 1k views...how many know or care about Don
under 30? Well, to date, 1076 people and I bet they are not under 30. Glad
Dom is doing this, but...he's not breaking ground here. Rick Beato on the other
hand averages over 50k a video and has some over 2M views. His video on What
Makes This Song Great w/Steely Dan has almost 1M views. So for all the effort
Dom puts forth, averaging 1k views has got to be disappointing.

I can't knock Dom because he's doing a good thing for drumming. But he's so busy and heavy handed on that jazz gig video, and his sudden, epileptic looking ridiculous theatrical arm and head movements always make me cringe and facepalm. But I suppose that might be exciting visuals for new young drummers.

On the balance, Dom has done great things for drumming.

Marco is such a talented musician. His time while playing that crazy stuff is ridiculous. Grooves all over. Would love to hear him play along to Stravinsky.

I went to Ann Arbor to catch Salonen directing The Firebird Suite Tuesday...I had no idea how difficult that music is to play, it is long, and complex and with a lot of dynamics. And Salonen was there on every note from every player. With the ending passage, the tympanist was hitting as hard as he could. It was as intense as some rock shows I've seen. I can understand more why Yes used it as their walk-on music. If it's ever being performed neat you, it's worth an experience.

This is a great performance, the end is just powerful.
