Gretsch Price

Postby V4Vinnie » Sun Mar 06, 2016 7:33 pm

Hi gang,

i need an advice or opinion on drum pricing. I have a Gretsch USA Custom from 1999 (Jasper Shells, everything USA Made).

The configuration is:

Toms (Virgin toms, kneeholes whatsoever, with RIMS and Yamaha plates)
10x9
12x10
14x12
16x14

Floor Tom with 3 Ludwig plates and legs
18x18

Bass Drums with Yamaha Spurs
22x16

The condition is 9.5 - 10.0

What could be a adequate price on it? I know economy is in the shit hole, but how much?

On this pic the bass drum doesn't have the front head and screws, but I have them, just for the pic inside I took them off.

Just out of curiosity, with older gretsch like mine, not that old, but old, I was hoping a little more with the price considering the 18x18 with is very rare and is all jasper and virgin toms. I thought that was a thing to consider. Not judging just here to learn.

A brand new set in those sizes would cost around $5,000 give or take. You may find someone how feels that the Jasper shells are worth a premium and get more. You never know till you try to sell them. Personally, I've owned the old Jasper shells and now own Keller shells. I find them comparable, but the overall quality is much higher now. The Ludwig floor tom leg brackets are kind of bizarre.

They seem like a great set of drums though. Why not just keep them?

4k? Not on Ebay, that´s for sure...

Not the same kit, but 800 bucks for a USA Custom (yeah, not laquer finish either, but you get the idea)... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Gretsch-USA-Cus ... 7675.l2557

I´d try on http://www.drumforum.org/ Plenty of collectors and seasoned guys that could actually understand the value of the kit.
