Bob Berg "Another Standard" is cool. I like it because it's pretty much a jazz combo, not heavy on effects. In the final third of this track he really cranks up the intensity:

Good stuff here too, same album:

The non-shred tracks are great too.

Paint the World, Time Warp, (Chick) and Another Standard (Bob Berg) are my favorites to listen to when it comes to Gary Novak. There's a lot of pretty phenomenal playing and musicianship on those records.

Was looking at Novak's AllMusic credits... he has a bass credit on Weckl's Heads Up record--? Surprised I missed that in the liner notes back in the day.

Cool breakdown of his solo from the song Tone Poem on Paint the World:

It's funny. I didn't really know about Novak until I saw him live with Landau. Not long since I realized this was the long haired dude I saw with Alanis as a kid.

Anyway. Some cool'n'happenin' shit here.

Yeah. Listened to it many times. I'd hit that is great in general, the best drum podcast by far IMO, but never really go back to them. Gary sounds like the uncle I wish I had.

Drummers weekly is decent. Modern Drummer is to me more or lesss just Mr.Johnston abusing himself.
