Back in the day I would have killed for this....never knew

I was SOOOOOOOOOOO excited as a giant 13 year old fan that was just starting to play big band music and jazz in high school to get my hands on my hero playing that kind of music, and had to scrounge together 40 or 50 bucks (can't actually remember, but those tapes were expensive for a kid) to watch the horror of what transpired. Oh, I got a lot out of Steve Smith, Omar(!) and the other guys, but watching Neil's performance was akin to Buster Douglas knocking out Mike Tyson. Santa isn't real. Your parents have sex. Girls take poops. There is no joy in Mudville, mighty Casey has struck out.

I grew up that day...

And through it all, Neil seemed totally oblivious that he just couldn't swing that gig. He just kept on lumbering into the fire.

Jeff has been going through this for a while now.

Love how Peter plays mediator roll. He said the right things at the right time. Explained the hits to Jeff like Neil learned them. Never saw the big band rehearsal footage. Nice find. To bad Neil can't swing. It's not that hard. His hands are cringe worthy at times. His touch is light as heck. Playing rock is his wheelhouse. At least he try's.

Neil's Buddy Rich horror show is so painful to watch. This here is Peart at his best. Relaxed, slick, dynamic, and intense:
