Eddie Van Halen, the all-American guitar hero who, with his namesake hard-rock band Van Halen, redefined the sound and possibilities of the electric guitar in the 1970s and ’80s, died on Tuesday at age 65. The cause was throat cancer.

Eddie was a huge influence around 15-16.

All first 5 albums were played a lot.

Girl Gone Bad, House of Pain, I'll wait.....I'll air-guitar the FUUUUUCK out of those tunes.

So much respect for the pioneers that showed us the possibilities outside the box. He seemed to get such joy from playing.
Fuck cancer.
RIP Edward.

We walked up to Conseco in Indianapolis without tix. Scored 13th row center. They were on fire that night, Alex and Eddie were right there. So much energy coming off the stage.

For all of us over 40 and especially 50 we lived during the musical magic era!
Eddie and the boys were such a huge part of that magic!!
