Zappa Band

Postby sjj123 » Thu Jun 16, 2022 6:51 am

Saw Zappa Band the other night in a small 400 seat theater. Simply excellent. Joe was so solid behind the drums. Scott Thunes is a freakin beast! Kineally is a mad scientist w/ vocals/keys and guitar. Ray sang as good as always. Highly recommended if your a Zappa fan

No Paul.....although I'm sure you may know that Joe plays in ZPZ sometimes. Jamie Kimme plays in both. Thunes and Martin were with Frank a long time

I'm very familiar with Zappa's various lineups over the years. I was a Zappa fanatic when I was younger, but I don't really dig the stuff anymore. I probably overdosed on it.
I'm just surprised that there are multiple Zappa bands. That's a lot of work to get that stuff nailed.

They must be friends because I believe you need an authorisation for putting a Zappa band out there knowing that Zappa's son does some tribute gigs too.
I come from Tain, Vinnie, Omar, Jeff, Fish, Stewart, and many more...

Yes Rodge...Keneally and Travers really spell it out on several podcasts I watched. Mike also describes his audition w/ Frank (excellent). Joe T wades through most of the the sea of shit getting permissions/legal stuff etc....Zappa band was explicitly given the green light by Ahmet himself according to those guys and they are also linked to some of the hologram stuff. I'll say again Joe kicks ass on this tour. So damn good.
