Finally...some recent stuff from DW. Nice tune, and...Weck being Weck
When in doubt...roll.

Man, always that same Latin Jazz fusion's music, well done sure, and boring in the same time, man, I'd love to choose a repertoire for DW, something out of his comfort zone.
I come from Tain, Vinnie, Omar, Jeff, Fish, Stewart, and many more...

Rodge--
Probably true...but the vamp that can be generated for Weck to play over works best in the Latin stuff. The only other type of vamp that works about as well is that angular type that Oz Noy uses, like "Just Groove Me". Personally, I like solos over vamps rather than open-ended solos.
When in doubt...roll.

I think I don't want him to solo, I just want him to be challenged and go out of his comfort zone, with Chick it was great, yet, as beautiful and impressive DW is, you know where he gonna go.

And for the Latin Jazz's music, I prefer him playing Camilo's music than his.

Agreed...found this one a little while ago in the "way back machine" from 1993. Great trio with Weck & Anthony. The fun tune "Just Kidding" kicks it off.
When in doubt...roll.

Sucks there's not a whole lot of footage of Dave with Michel. That first self titled CD really changed my world.

I have that album on vinyl. It was imported from Japan. I'm constantly amazed at the number of albums that were recorded here in the U.S.A .that weren't released on a label here but I was able to get as imports...like almost all of the Michel Camilo albums from that era, Joe Cool, and the original Saturday Night Live Band (with Buddy Williams on drums).
When in doubt...roll.
