Count me as a fan. Growing up in the 80s and 90s I was exposed to him as well as Matt Cameron and boy, they sure made an impact on me.
His sharp sound and powerful touch are what made the best sounding PJ lineup to my personal taste.

I'm a fan too. I remember the first time I watched the MTV Acoustic with him and I always liked his bass drum technique/phrases. Great drummer!

My first big influence! Bought a DW kit when i was 16 cause of him and many others... Does anybody know what snare drum he played with the white kit? I think i read once that it was a solid shell...it sure took some punishment whatever it was.lol

I play Even Flow with the bad I'm in at the moment, easy but it it grooves so hard we all play out of our skins!
I never liked pj without him, Cameron was always fror Soundgarden IMO.

I played a pattern based on WMA in a session years ago and the producer loved it, thanks to that I got loads of work and a local music mag did an interview with me. Dave was always grooving. Always hip.

I remember this old DW promo on VHS which I liked when he starts laying it down;

But his cymbal abuse was a little too much for me, IMO it killed his groove.

the first decent hi hat I bought was based on what I read he used: 14" AAX Sabian top + 14" Fusion bottom. Still have those hats. Very glassy sounding at time, but cool.

It's difficult to describe the influence that Dave and M.Cameron had on me as a kid!! I often transcribe these guys' grooves with my rock-oriented students, and it's usually a source of inspiration and clarity for them. And for good reason! 8-)
