The "Europeans can't swing"-thing is something I heard a lot when I went to Players' School. It's true in a way, but I was one of those who could hear the difference and do it both ways. They could still only do it one way.

That said. To my own personal taste, Gergo is a little too stiff for me to enjoy. Thing I've seen him do that I enjoyed the most is the video where he plays on tons of Factory Metal stuff. I'd like to get me some of those tings, but it seems they're not in business anymore.

I understand your point. Especially the clinics thingies, he's always on steriods there. He wouldn't pass a drug test ;-)

But the stuff where he plays with real other musician's he can loosen up and hold back ...

For example:

ps. I noticed that he tunes his snare drum very high oftenly

SO...I took a lesson with Gergo at my shed a few days ago. He was in town doing the Lang camp and I took a chance and PM'd him on FB (I met him at the Potato a while ago). He was nice enough to ask why I wanted I wanted a lesson, I told him I was interested in his 32nd note phrasing. Also as I fan of drumming I'm fascinated and entertained by him and just wanted to be in the room with the guy and watch him play and pick his brain.

He was super cool, super nice and kept the focus on what I wanted to get from him (instead of just blowing whatever he wanted). His approach is not based on working on concepts so much as it just brute-force sitting down and playing what he wants to play. He said he never starts things really slow, didn't practice to a click too much, just played a fuck-ton and picked stuff from listening. Pretty impressive.

Anyways I'll post some pics soon.

Nice Steve, I can see the respect from Gergo to you, by asking you why you wanted a lesson with him.

There is place for 2 kits in your practice place ?
