Drilling a cymbal

Hey guys...

Just found that my 10" splash has a crack near the bell (running parallel to the circumference of the cymbal)...
Any tips on how to drill it? Some words of what NOT to do?

Thanks!
J.

pd. Post pics later...

Start looking for a new splash. Drilling may prolong it's inevitable death for a bit but once it's cracked, it's gone.

Dude it's a goner. Way done. Make an effects cymbal out it. Use a few cracked cymbals and stack em. I have tried to save so many cymbals through the years. Only cymbal that seems to respond is a flat ride I drilled in a inch or so from the edge. Crashes take so much abuse, futile. Rides have a chance. Splashes are as good as dead once bitten.

agreed. with bigger cymbals there's stuff you can do... but the splash is too small. +1 for the effects idea... or a wall hanging ... or scrap metal....
