Why do most replies attempt to critique Chris' playing? Chris is playing Chris. He has many great gigs, he's musical as a sideman and creative as a leader. He has his own thing. You don't have to like it. I personally can't listen to him be creative for too long, but it's still wonderful. He's a master with own voice. Just enjoy it, don't tell me who does it better, or how you rate a drummer. If you rate a drummer by how many people bob their heads, then you must give Vinnie Colaiuta, Tony Williams and Elvin Jones a 0. People bob their heads to drum machines as well. Chris is one of many top players of our time. I much prefer his approach to someone like Ronald Bruner.

Another from his video blog off his site...

Gear questions... In the D'angelo vids it looks like he's using 2 sets of hats: Main hats look to be 16? and the remote hats (where ride typically is) Look to be 20" rides?

I know he doesn't endorse a specific brand of drum, but I'm more curious as to his snare sizes to get as varied a tone.

Also does anyone know his Hi-hat setup on this particular Maxwell track below? I remember seeing him play with an hhx evo ozone 16" crash for the top, but could never find out the bottom...

Anyone know how old he actually is? He looks like he's in his 20s, but Mint Condition started a long time ago...

Chris is absolutely amazing. The medley Video feels just soo good and it is some ridiculous stuff he is playing there.

Glad to see that nothing changed in HOD forum. Still all the master critics here :-)
