Hi everybody,

I'd like to introduce my new snare (Worldmax Bronze Hawg 14*5). I bought it in a little shop in Italy and this is a collector model (I am lucky). This model is not any more produced by Worldmax and it's almost impossible to find it in the market. So this is a rare piece.

The Hawg series are awesome snares and they sound as well as a Ludwig Black Beauty. In germany, they won some Snare test.

Technical détails :

- Bronze Shell 1.2mm
- Simple Flanged vintage like Hoops
- S9 Die Cast Strainer
- Hand Made in Germany Snare Wire

This snare is terrific and very versatile too. You can play almost every style expect Metal I would say.

Why is it that you introduce your gear to the board? It's very self-congratulatory. I was very close to buying a world max snare at one time, but aren't they made in China? The older I get, the more that sort of thing means to me.

But since we're gear-whoring, here's the drum I ended up 'making' instead of the World Max snare, It's an Acrolite snare shell with new hardware. It means more to me that I put it together vs. anything else.

Did you refinish the shell? It looks glossy compared to most Acros.

I love building my own drums. Just wish I had more time to do it.

Love the tube lugs...where did you get them, Deseipel? (If I may ask...how much were they? I have been thinking about changing lugs on a whole kit.)

Bought the shell on eBay for 30, I didn't do anything to it. The lugs came from drummaker.com, around 6 each I think. Is love to refurb/hotrod old drums if there was a market. Would you pay 200 for a dru.m like it? Would anyone? It's hard to say

Worldmax are made in Taiwan but the quality of their snare is awesome. Remember, for instance, that Pearl Reference are also made in Taiwan.
They sound so great and the price is interesting for such a good snare.

I can't really complain much, my Catalina Birch comes from China. But I can tell you that there is most certainly a quality difference. I have a USA Custom kit as well. There's no comparison in tone.



did you put plastic edges on that WorldMax too? I still can't believe the Tamburo's have plastic edges. sorry, it just seems like it would sound like a teflon terd.

You have to try... this is not plastic but Epoxy exactly. And I also have a DW Collector in the studio. This process is patented and provides a FANTASTIC sound, I owned severals drums and Tamburo Opera outranks any set I tried. This is a totally hand made drum and it sounds better than any DW I checked here in France.

We have some good drummers too in Lyon where I live and they came to test it : they were just amazed.
The Opera Snare is great too and those Epoxy edges help to getting such a good sound.
