Postby amoergosum » Wed Aug 31, 2011 2:28 am

Nice!!!....hopefully this is going to be released on DVD & Blu-ray this or next year:

On October 1, 2011, join Sting at the Beacon Theater in New York City as he celebrates the 25th anniversary of his solo career on the eve of his 60th birthday with a very special concert event to benefit the Robin Hood Foundation.

Representing a cross section of Sting's vast portfolio of work and collaborations throughout his enduring career, special guest performers include Bruce Springsteen, Lady Gaga, Stevie Wonder, Mary J. Blige, Herbie Hancock, Robert Downey Jr., Vince Gill, Will.i.am, Rufus Wainwright, Branford Marsalis, Billy Joel, and Chris Botti. Throughout the evening, Sting will be backed by a band featuring his longtime guitarist, Dominic Miller, bassist Christian McBride, keyboardist David Sancious, drummer Vinnie Colaiuta, and backing vocalists Jo Lawry, Lisa Fischer, and Tabitha Fair. In keeping with long-standing tradition of being on stage during his birthday, this will be a truly unforgettable night.

Excellent lineup .....
As it'll also be the eve of my 60th, let's hope they play some 'proper' music :) :P

Tickets are only available for fan club members. Now go search this show on eBay and see what all those "hardcore" fan club members are selling them for. Cant get in the door for less than 1100$. That is a disgrace. It would be so deserving if Sting did what Tom Petty and the Allman Brothers did a few years ago. They searched for scalpers online. Targeted the people that were fan club members who bought tickets and right away flipped em. Refunded there money and put the tickets back on sale. The tickets JUST went on sale yesterday. If i cant get tix cause I was asleep at the wheel, I can deal with that. If i cant get tix cause a bunch of greedy knuckleheads bought all of them just to eBay em, well, that makes me want to not go to concerts even more.

Man I hope they tour with this lineup! I saw Vinnie for the first time this past summer with Herbie Hancock. Absolutely amazing. I have seen Sting twice, once with Manu and once with Keith Carlock. Both great shows, and it was also how I discovered Keith. Immediately after the show did some googling. Had to go and find out who this great drummer was and what an inspiration he has turned out to be! But Vinnie with Sting, that's it for me! Sting came through Atlanta with the Symphonicity tour and I had to pass.
