I love how awesome his backbeats ALWAYS are... such a nice crack and consistency to them.

Driven to Tears with Vin is similar to Smith with early Journey...fire, energy, bombastic zeal...

No comparison to Sting of today with the same three members.

Keep in mind one simple word...AGE. Age takes its toll and it is a factor that impacts performance.
Age diminishes zeal over time...the notes are still fresh from the 80's, but the players are not.
Simple fact of life.

1 Sting's music is still one of my all time favorite outlets for Vinnie's creativity.
2 I love that he still pays respect to Copeland's accented 4th and 5th ride cymbal 8th-notes in 'Every little thing...'

Vinnie's next solo album could be a loop of this groove for at least one tune if not the whole thing: http://www.endlessvideo.com/watch?v=e3z ... &end=0m26s

Its still as tasteful as ever but I prefer the ten summoners and soul cages stuff.
There is nothing left to say.
