I missed this gig nearby (had a gig of my own) but was disappointed a bit when I read this post on guitar forum. has anyone seen this trio.

Overall performance was good but I wasn't blown away. I've heard all of them play a lot better.

I got the impression they were going through the motions a little bit. Scott sat in a folding chair and it was hard to see him. He checked his phone messages a couple times in between tunes.

One thing that I noticed is that Scott plays so much on the down beat in his phrasing. He does do some odd-rhythmic phrasing which I like (and have stolen) but in terms of his jazz articulation it doesn't utilize much forward motion ala brecker or even gambale.

Berlin sounded a little sloppy as well. In fact , they all sounded like they were not in tip-top shape. Maybe further into the tour they will gel.

With musicians of this caliber there are always great moments but I just expected more of them! "

That review means nothing to me. I need to hear the music. I can't imagine those guys making anything but great music together. It sounds like the reviewer was more interested in a chopfest than anything else.

I'm w/ ya DSOP...maybe I gravitated to it because I was pissed I had to miss it! Posted it to try and hear from someone on here who saw it.

I hope they record something together. Personally, my favorite Henderson stuff was that record with Berlin, Lavitz and Smith called "Players". Actually, that may be one of Smith's best recordings too.

Well since it's just us....I have that CD for many years now. Players is a great Cd..I like the sound of Smiths drum a lot and he (they) play really well on it

I went to the show last night in Lakewood (western Cleveland suburb), Ohio. I liked the show.
I've seen Scott play about 10 times, mainly with Tribal Tech and this show was different. They played some Wayne Shorter bop tunes, Weather Report, some standards and some killer blues.
Yes, Scott did sit during the show, but that was so he could get the most out of his amp. I know Scott a little and he is a slave to his sound.

Jeff Played spot on. Did he miss a few notes? Sure, who doesn't. That man is an amazing player. He did an amazing solo.

Mike was great. His approach is obviously different than Covington's or Chamber's so the overall feel wasn't as powerful. A lot of swing. His left hand is sick!
They played Actual Proof where Mike took it to another level.

Over all it was a fun relaxed show. They were tell some funny jokes between songs. At the end of the night they sat around a talked with everyone.
It is always good to see Scott Henderson playing in your backyard.
I think he is one of the best guitarist alive today.
