Riley explains the Vinnie fill from the Chaka sound check

Postby Steve Holmes » Tue Nov 29, 2011 11:47 pm

OK how funny is this? Riley saw the Chaka sound check vid (that was requested by Vinnie to be removed) and discusses one of the fills at the MD fest, which makes it on the official DVD (him discussing it, not the sound check clip itself).

John Riley clinic clip + the Vinnie Chaka soundcheck footage = the best thing ever to appear on the internet... x 1000000000!

If Santa doesn't bring me th MD fest DVD I will never forgive him!

I love it! Great find, Steve! Bernhard did a really good job editing the clip in question with Riley's instruction.

Curious how Hudson might feel about the "banned" clip appearing juxtaposed with their footage...

Personally I like the flammy stuff he plays right after the transcribed example. Very typical Vinnie stuff :)

I love the fact that even a cat like John Riley is a little befuddled at first glance from hearing something played by Vinnie.

Pssst... does anyone still have that banned video?

Reminds me of a fill Joe Crabtree has the lesson for that starts with a paradiddle-diddle and then does singles around the toms and ending with a double on the kick, from I think a Robben Ford song.
I wonder what kind of permission had to be granted to use that. I mean if it was removed from youtube, im sure they didnt let it squeak by for free. maybe we should all run out and get a copy before the dvd is "updated"
