Are we sure that was even Weckl? I thought having a life meant being a little fuzzy with the facts. :|

Whoever thought to abbreviate WECKL to WECK
should be commended as 'genius' !

Some people are just meant to lift mankind
and free them of unnecessary constraints
on their time.

You, sir, with your creativity, have enabled
the rest of us to live more of our lives, to
tend to our passions, to serve others and
to enjoy the time God gave us here on earth,
simply by not writing, printing or texting the 'L' in Weckl.

May The Force Be With You!

I am just using poetic license in the form of elision.
As a matter of fact, every famous drummer should have a nickname given to him. Like The Vinster, Jack Dijon Mustard, Jeff Pork, Gav, Ersko etc...

I just spent way too much time going down the road of coming up with Cockney rhyming slang versions of the names.

Then longer deciding not to post them.

I think I'll make another Manhattan now.

I've never played a recording custom, oak custom or phoenix kit - I used to own the maple custom absolute (great drums), but as much as I've tried and even wanted to believe it - I couldn't tell the difference between Weckl playing on the Recording, Oak or PHX kits. He sounds the same on all 3 to me. Just like Carlock - he'll sound the same on Gretsch. Vinnie will sound the same on Ludwig.

I'm interested in the Oak Customs because they project, but then I like the Club Customs because of the vintage tone, but they're not as loud.

If I hit an Oak Custom 12x8 tom and Club Custom 12x8 tom with the same stick, same heads, same tuning and same force, would the Oak Custom be louder?

Yes, you will hear a difference when you strike the drum but I'm not sure if that translates to the microphone/speakers/audience.
