Yep. Was totally thinking, "We are a bunch of old farts."
“Let's try some of my songs.” Dave Grohl, top sign drummer will be fired.

I think RUSH has had a similar impact on a significant number of young drummers as they did on you guys. They did for me. And the same albums. And I think their new albums will be viewed the same way as you guys view them.

Kids love Rush. I'm teaching Tom Sawyer to three students right now. Neil is still a big deal to the young rock drummers. In 20 years Moving Pictures will still be cool. Test For Echo? Not so much.

Younger drummers may love Rush -- or more accurately Neil. But I'm around a whole lot of people in their late teens and early 20s, and Rush isn't thought about much, or even really known. Some do, of course.

I guess I'll clarify. It is amongst the semi-serious drummer kids, primarily the ones taken lessons, that RUSH will likely be popular. But less so amongst any random rock fan. In that world it is Travis Barker, Slipknot, etc etc

No one has asked me about Slipknot in years. They used to be very popular. Kids that are into heavy stuff are into REALLY heavy stuff, bands most people have never heard of or even bands from their local scene.
Yes, Travis Barker is still popular with young drummers.

I'm such a fan of the band and their music I just like the new stuff out of spite. They were such a huge part of my growth as a musician. I thank them for that. They have made such amazing music in the past. They still make well crafted music it's just not my mug of beer anymore. I liked all the snakes and arrow tunes. Just didn't care for this headlong flight tune. I see them live every tour and it's always a great time. Their show is entertaining ( if your a rush head ). Gonna see them in October.

What are your thoughts on this song? Or the CA album in general?

I think this album is honestly their best since Counterparts. The drum sound is very powerful, and Neil has a better feel than he has had in a LONG time. The bass is loud in the mix, as is usual, but the real surprise is how loud and aggressively heavy the guitar is on this album. And their songwriting is still very good, though not as high-quality as the late 70s/early 80s period, but I have accepted that they don't have that level of songwriting in them anymore.

I was as big a Rush fan as there was in the day but their music is too dense for me these days...too much noise in there and not enough separation of each of them and their instruments. I certainly have favorites off more recent albums but after TFE it was downhill for me. Neil doesnt really play anything we have not heard before these days IMO

new album is ok. a few good songs. listen to it a few times and was done with it. sounds horrible. maybe the vinyl sounds a bit better.
