i finally pulled the trigger and bought an iPhone 4s.
Do you guys think it sucks in terms of sound quality (when you listen to music through earphones) ?
I also bought a pair of earphones by future sonics, they are called Atrio and they kick ass.
Cheap for the quality you get... (170 dollars).
Anyway, I had bought those prior to the iPhone, so I was listening to music through
my DAW which has a nice presonus monitor station...I had the impression
it sounds much better when I listen to music this way instead of
through the iPhone.
I can't A B them right now and won't be able to do so for the next week
and its driving me crazy....
Maybe i've exaggerated, listening to music through the iPhone
doesn't suck, but its miles from audiophile quality (IMO).
Anyway, have you guys noticed the same thing ?

I have the 3GS and its sound quality is GREAT.
Look in the EQ options and see if you find something that helps.

nice phone. i'm waiting for the 5 this October. there are about 7.8 billion apps for equalizers in the app store. some free some a buck or two. there are lots of crappy ones. check the apple forums for the best one. i use the bass boost setting on the Iphone. if you play sound through an app you can do lots to tweak it.

If was just about to apply for college, I would definitely study to be an audiologist. Hearing damage is going to be rampant in a few years. Buy stock in hearing aids manufacturers people. And stop wearing head/earphones.

Re: iPhone Tech Question - Bad Sound Quality
I haven't noticed a drastically poor performance on my iPhone 4S, when using earphones/headphones.
But then, I didn't expect an audiophile experience neither. I try to stay clear from the very low bit rates
when putting music in iTunes.

At this point, there's really no reason to not go lossless. Disk space is so cheap, and while flash isn't, most people can't fit their entire libraries on their phones anyway -- even at 128kbps.

if ya run out of room you use the clouds. sugar sync, dropbox and other apps like tappin that allow to stream your entire hard drive. pix and music.
