I enjoyed a nice run at the Four Seasons in my town for the last 3 years, but as of the turn of the year, the 4 star hotel has eliminated live music altogether.
Having a steady for that long, one begins to plan their finances around it, and I have to say, I'm hurting.
Anyone else experiencing an overall decline in live music in their working sector?
To make the matter worse, the manager showed me the ipod touch and 1/8" to 1/4" jack they replaced us with.

If the musical entertainment can attract clients to the room, then there is no reason to fire the band. A jazz band in the corner is just to cover up any background noise from the bar.
If you had themed show, I'm sure things would be different.

Happens to the best of us, mate. Three years of a regular gig is pretty impressive!
I too have made the mistake of planning expenses around a gig, but I've learned my lesson in that regard.
