Hello fellow HODérs!!
I just put up a new video when I went to my studio today trying to play some Mahavishnu Orchestra stuff. Oh man, those tunes are hard to play, and I do hear several mistakes here, but it was so hard to play through the changes, I just couldn´t nail it perfectly. Great fun though.
I am still really trying to get a decent sound going when recording, and it is slowly getting better I think.
Well, I hope it is alright with me sharing this here.

Good job man. Those tunes are fun to play. Drums sound good. Snare sound was ok.

Gary Husband called, he wants his drums back. Just kidding. Sounds good. I liked your Give Blood cover even better. You can tell you're really into Simon. You even have similar body mechanics. Good stuff.

Thank you guys!
And yes, this one was quite hard for me, I must admit. I did 6 complete takes, and was like..."oh man, why is it so bloody hard?". It SOUNDS fairly easy, but to me anyway, it was hard. But I always like that quirky little tune, and I set a goal before I went to my little studio that "I´d do that one yesterday", having never tried to play it before.
Regarding Simon, I WAS immensely into him during the 90´s and early 00´s, and to such a big point that it is almost impossible to shake it off, if I´d wanted. I do mostly listen and get inspired by other drummers these days. But hey, I still dig him! But I find more inspiration listening to other guys these days.
Yes Willy, Clear Amb top and bottom of the toms tuned wide open.
Thanks again for the comments.

I thought it was overcompressed. A looser strainer would make it sound a bit fatter.

Cool Cover.. Holy Simon Phillips... ha ha nice job...
Try taking the compression that you have and assign it to another buss.. send your drum track to the compression buss and blend the two.. Th compression track should be underneath the clean drum track to support it and add the glue and thickness. but not necessarily smear the transients..
