99% of it is done on site at a studio. He doesn't do much stuff at home. I think he did some stuff for John McLaughlin at home, but that was a while ago.

Jeff Lorber Fusion - Hacienda
August 27th release date
Colaiuta is afforded a lot more flexibility to truly stretch the metrics and flaunt some chops on the first three tracks ("Corinaldo", "Solar Wind", and a updated take on Frank Zappa's "King Kong" with contributions from other Zappa alumni Jean Luc Ponty and Ed Mann) than on the prior JLF releases on which he has appeared. The remainder of the songs include some upbeat house rhythms similar to those that fueled a few tracks on the JLF 2012 product Galaxy, as well as some laid back 'quiet storm' type ballads and a healthy dose of the obligatory mid tempo funk grooves that seem to always be quite prevalent amongst the genre of smooth jazz. Gary Novak and Dave Weckl contribute to one track each.

Man, he's got that china pretty far over to the right on his left side. Almost looks as if he's using it as his first crash!
