iPhone/iPad Mounting

Postby MRhet » Mon Nov 11, 2013 9:02 pm

For reasons too uninteresting to write down, I want to use either my iPhone or iPad as metronome on a couple of live shows with a band I'm subbing in.

Does anyone have an easy (or cheap) way to mount one or the other? (I know you can buy dedicated stuff and I suppose if I make a habit of doing it I will try one.)

In the meantime . . . anything workable?

Thanks.

Those black, industrial-strength music stands have always worked well for me (as long as the bolt is tight). Otherwise, I'd just get a fairly rugged case and stick it on my stick stand / a tom case?

Do you use any gaffer tape or the like -- in other words, what keeps it in place?

The two inch lip on the bottom?

:) Ahh yes -- well probably true on the music stand (though vibration is still a concern) -- not so much on the stick stand or tom case.

Here's what I use - Tama multiclamp with a short gooseneck and an Ipad Holder ( the kind that usually go on a mic stand ) - an similar iphone holder should work also...

I've used this with a Mic clip clamping a Tama Rhythm Watch also... I have it attached to my HiHat stand....

Ended up deciding I was spending too much time trying to figure out a work around. So I bought this:

Will see how it works tomorrow at the show.

Thanks.

Just got home -- worked reasonably well. Having the iPad metronome was great -- if nothing else, it gave rhetorical power.

The holder was pretty good -- but it drifted a bit, so I had to tighten it fairly often. You can actually screw it directly into the top of a mic stand -- I think I'll try that.
