Brief story behind is cool. Desire might change, but if ONE song comes to mind, post it.

Stopped listening to pop music for a long time and got back into it. I keep coming back to
this one:

TOTO: Til the End pure groove for me...Jeff plays the perfect amount
of notes. Chorus and the end snare vibe I could listen to all day long. William's vocals
money. (they tried so hard to make cool vid's...if you're under 30, it was lame in the
80's as well)

okay...maybe hoping for too much...Mickey Curry
was a huge influence...how can I forget this cat!
That drum sound was HUGE on the slow Somebody.
What a snare should be. Gave me a drum woody.

i look to Mickey Curry when I need some inspiration, I think that that's how you play drums.



A slower tempo, strange. Curry is so solid.

Not to dominate my own silly thread, but here's my first intro to
Steve Smith. This song got it started for me to see the world outside
of rock as a kid. Wore the LP out with a constant, "WHAT IS HE DOING"
frustration.

God, there are too many to list. I guess I will start when I was coming up and learning to play...then go somewhere in the middle of my years.....then what I am listening to nowadays over and over and over again.

Stewart is the first...he is my favorite. When I was a kid, I was just balls deep into everything Police. This particular live version of this song is everything why I love his playing so much. Totally aggressive, totally his own voice on the kit and to me...total groove. Not James Brown groove...something else. I like it.



Everything about this <album> blew me away. I was already heavy into Gadd...but I must of wore out this CD and this song. The silly man probably did it in one take.



I listen to this almost every week since it came out. There is nothing I don't like about this. Everything and the kitchen sink is in this. Oh, it's Vinnie.
