I'm pretty sure he's still endorsing Gretsch, and prefers to use them when possible, but most backline companies provide Yamaha, and DW.

These DW drums sound nice:

"I Can See Your House From Here" is a great record. One of my favorite Bill Stewart performances is on the track "Call 911" off John Scofield's record "What We Do": http://www.amazon.es/Call-911/dp/B008PG5362

"En Route" is another great Scofield record with Stewart (live).

He played Gretsch the night I saw him...had them tuned to his signature pop on each drum...one of the few guys I've heard that can get away with that tuning (making it work in the context of that guitar trio/quartet...not getting in the way of the guitar or bass range). They blended beautifully with his "groovy" cymbals (as I said earlier). And, did I mention his playing was friggin' sick? Gotta love the Stew!!!

--> Live at Smalls this week <--

Wednesday and Thursday: I am psyched to bring in one of our most popular artists - guitarist Peter Bernstein, who will be coming in for two nights at 9:30 PM with a high-level quartet that features Sam Yahel on piano, Doug Weiss on bass and the truly amazing Bill Stewart on drums. There will be two sets - 9:30 PM and 11:00 PM - the house will be turned between sets so plan accordingly. It will be packed.

Bill should watch his cymbals >>>

Hi everyone.
I just heard from Jochen Rueckert that his 22 Kontro, 2162g was stolen of a stand at Smalls about 3 weeks ago. My name and the weight are engraved under the bell.
If anyone sees anything, any news would be much appreciated.

What does it mean when "the house will be turned?" They kick everyone out?

Yup, or essentially that it's basically two shows and you'll need tickets for both if you want to stay. Not all clubs do it the same way.
Some will let you stay between sets; others will have the room cleared before letting people (with tickets to the second show) in again.
