Nothing new to HOD here, but most never connect these TOTO influenced dots;

Silk Degrees session:

Les Dudek – slide guitar (3)
David Hungate – bass
Jeff Porcaro – drums, percussion (4), timbales (8)
Joe Porcaro – percussion (1, 3)
David Paich – arrangements, acoustic piano (1-4, 7-10), electric piano (5-8), ARP synthesizers (5, 6), Moog synthesizer (5, 6, 9), Minimoog (6, 8, 9), Hammond organ (6, 9)

Jeff's first real session was with Les Dudek, established the relationship with Hungate,
Joe Porcaro & Marty Paich tight as dad's...working studios, this Porcaro/Paich family
root thing is insane as far as influence and sheer musical output. Add Lukather and
the session numbers grow and grow.

The Silk Degree record had some magical elixir in the water...
Silk Degree started the band TOTO:

Ahhhhhhh...need to calm down here!

Jeff Porcaro Tribute...respect, love the idea until I heard the drummers,
especially "Lil John Roberts" PISS all over these songs. A classic clinic on how
NOT to play a cover. Why the F do a tribute and play like shit?

Every Roberts cover is a disgrace...a total disgrace to Jeff's playing!

This is just a joke;

I just HATE lazy cats that can't even make the effort to listen to the original groove
and make an effort...KAIDE, do you see why I love all over your videos? This is why!
Kaide makes more effort in one bar than Lil John does...his hat work on Black Friday,
Keep Forgettin, everything is stunningly bad.

You have Lil John...then a cat like this...the gap is too huge for my tatses, and YES...
I get the framework of these shows...each drummer is to "interpret" the parts...F that...
show respect and nail his parts and let your individual style come out within your
effort.

This guy would have helped Lil John...A LOT!

On the lighter side, new TOTO/Jeff stuff from the proverbial vault in the sky;
Fun little surprise @33:00... (vid quality is sub par, but...)

LOL...I want to know your Mozilla history for you to stumble on this one Paul!

Evidently, a failed McCartney project even Ringo hated;

Luke on the other hand loved it;
As a result of the Jackson-McCartney session, Steve Lukather and Jeff Porcaro were invited to fly to London in April 1984 to appear in Paul McCartney's new movie, "Give My Regards to Broadstreet", and play a tune with the former Beatle. "It was fantastic!" Lukather recalls. "What an honor to be in the same room with him and be able to hang with him and talk. I was picking [Beatles producer] George Martin's brain. It was an unbelievable experience. You won't recognize any of us in the movie. We're all dressed up in wild makeup and wearing wigs." Steve and Jeff appeared in white playing "Silly Love Songs," found on the soundtrack. (Guitar Player Magazine, April 1984)

Leo Sayer was amazing...too bad his manager sucked him dry with
bogus investments...another tragic story!

Does Bobby have hearing loss? He doesn't sound right here...
