I'm definitely looking forward to hearing this lineup. I'd like to hear Hass with Scofield again too sometime.

Hey Mark, FYI the drummer on " Blackout" on the Bump CD is actually Eric Kalb ( who does play a lot like Adam....) He's also on that video ( plays "lefty" )
Eric plays with guitarist Charlie Hunter also....

Kenny Wollesen plays on a few cuts on Bump also....

Man! I love Adam's playing. Didn't mean to hijack the thread...back to Toss.

From what I've heard this is Robben's child, and he asked Scofield to be a part of it. It's billed as a collaborative for obvious reasons. It's basically Ford's band with Scofield added. I know that Hess has a brief history with the Uberjam. Either way this will be a fun group, but it's not a John Scofield Band project like the other projects you guys are talking about with Dietch, Kalb and Hass, and Scofield did not put this band together. This is what I've heard from some friends of Scofield's and Hess'.
Interesting comments about Kalb and Dietch sounding similar. I don't hear that at all. To me Kalb comes from greasy Benard Purdie and Idris Mohammad school, where as Deitch is very urban/hiphop, clean and accurate with his funk. Both extremely funky though. My 3 favorite Scofield projects are Bump with Kalb and Wolleson, his trio with Stewart and Swallow, and The Ray Charles project live with Hass. The Ray Charles project was the only one in Scofield's history that covered his funk and jazz repertoire. It was a good show to catch, especially with Mavis Staples. Can't wait to hear this Robben Ford/Scofield project though. Very curious.

So sloppy and groovy, like an early Carlock. It was the first time I had heard that type of constant left hand gracing. His left hand on that record made me WORK!!

Actually Deitch wasn't on Bump, the drummer on Blackout is a drummer named Eric Kalb from a band called Deep Banana Blackout. If my memory servers me correctly the other drummer on that album is Kenny Wolleson.

Sounds good! And they seem to be enjoying it too..

No hijack intended but rather than start another Sco thread...wow...this if friggin hot. Gotta hand it to Marvin. I'd prefer to be able to do this than anything Lang, Virgil and Minemann can do do combined! Damn
