i really, really, really, really hate speaking less about neil peart. i just can't help myself by being very honest on this forum. not a fan of his drumming the past 8 years or so. i wouldn't be typing these words if it wasn't for him. he clinched it for me. i saw this tom sawyer video on MTV and never ever forgot the moment i saw a drummer doing what he did. this is 1982 or so. i didn't have access to the digital media that exists now. radio, video and vinyl back then for me. i saw the GUP tour with my uncle. i was just a young teenage kid. to see neil play back in those days is like shaking gods hands and saying thanks! i have not missed a RUSH tour ever since. i'm very attached to the band like so many others. i have read all of neils books many times over. to see him play like he does now kind of hurts. his time has gotten better through the years. feel... nope. sorry but it's not so good. his ideas. what ideas. on the making of the snakes and arrows dvd kind of says it all. the producer comes up to him and says you know what... it's just not there. can you go back to the drums and play a little bit more with some energy during this pre chorus bit. this producer had the fucking balls to tell neil peart to play a bit more. he was spot on and went back and killed it and made the song come to life. geddy was in the control room just lovin it. i love seeing shit like that. back when rush was recording hemispheres did the producer tell neil i need you to pull back or play a bit more. nope. neil was just being neil playing some of the most incredible drum parts to music you will ever hear.

we all age. it's a crying shame. the man has been through so much in his life. he has a 2 year old kid and happily married. he rides motor cycles to every single freakin gig. deals with a very aggressive environment on his treks. how many rock drummers do what he does!!!!!!!!!!!!!! plays a 3 hour show and kills it every time after a long 300 mile or so trek on a motorcycle. props. big time mother fucking props. end of story.
