I haven't seen this on the boards (or may have plain missed it) but Gerry Gaskill of Kings X had a heart attack recently. To offset the cost of his medical bills people can donate $20.00 to the website below. in return you can get a download of their live concert back in the summer of '91 when they first released their self titled album on Atlantic records. thought it would be cool to share. apologies in advance if this was posted before. Get well soon Gerry!!

Fuck. Poor bastard. I can't believe how screwed up this country's gotten. Anytime somebody stubs their toe they need to have a yard sale to pay for a bandage.
Re: **help** : Gerry Gaskill of Kings - X
I bought it, but the server is blown.
I emailed them and they're going to hook me up.
FANTASTIC band. I saw them at a small club in Detroit. it was so loud...but pristine. Loudest show I've been to that I didn't want to leave. The vocals were just unreal. Every harmony perfect.
Gerry killed me, with that weird hammering style, but still not simple bashing at all.
Paiste cymbals. I remember they took my head off. So loud and cutting. He slammed on them, but they delivered a super crazy high pitched crash, but not a weak sound. Those cymbals sorta have one sound and that's it, it just gets louder. But not a bad sound.

(It's Jerry with a J, guys)
If you're a fan, pick up this excellent download. Its mostly front of house mics, but that's ok because you can really hear how tight everything is between those 3.
If you have trouble with the Molken download, contact them and Wally will send you a yousendit file.

Doh!! <corrected>
thanks Kinky.
btw - i remember seeing Kings X @ The Galaxy Theatre in Santa Ana back in da day. I just remember being blown away by their wall of sound. I couldn't believe how tight these guys were as well as how well they harmonized. just 3 dudes but sounded like more. ever since then Doug Pinnick became one of my favorite singers. I love Ty's voice also. If you would've told me that I was going to hear some Beatle-esque harmony alongside metal I'd say it wouldn't work but it did and I've been a fan ever since. I haven't heard their newer stuff. I have all the cd's up til "Tape Head". i swear that "Lost in Germany" had to have one of the most awesome riffs i've ever heard in my
lifetime. I was soooo looking fwd to seeing them this month in Austin but was sad to hear of what happened. Get well soon, Jerry.

Re: **help** : Jerry Gaskill of Kings - X
Glad we got that corrected, Chooch!
No sweat..
King's X is one of the few bands out there who's music I own ALL of. Funny thing is, at first I didn't "get it" AT ALL!
Being a rock dude back in the day, I picked up Hit Parader or Circus one month and saw a full page ad for the album "Gretchen Goes to Nebraska" with all these accolades at the bottom and quotes from Vernon Reid, Scott Ian, and some other notable metal guys at the time. A week or so later I saw the video for "Over my Head" on Headbangers Ball and I thought, "What's the big deal? That song isn't that good. Kinda lame IMO." Next week I saw the video again. Then, I saw it again. Then, I couldn't get the Goddamn song out of my head.
Bought Gretchen, played the shit out of it, "got it", and have been a fan ever since. Seen 'em live 3 times over the years and am always amazed at how incredibly tight they are musically and especially with the vocal harmonies. Crazy what these guys do as a 3pc. Wish they'd get an opening slot with a band like Rush. Totally unsung heroes, these guys. And, they just don't get the recognition they deserve. Now, with Jerry's heart attack, because a band-aid does cost $200 in a hospital, we need to help him as a drum brother. If you're a fan, get this concert download!
