Hey Pocket,

Not "OT" at all to me. When the show Inside The Actor's Studio first aired I watched (and taped) it obsessively. All the while, in my brain I substituted music-drumming for acting. There were some great early episodes, and I learned a lot. I even went on to read Stanislavski's An Actor ...

I saw Vinnie give a clinic at Creative Music in April of '89 in front of a small room of people with their jaws on the floor. I sat right next to his HH and the SD he had on his left (one of the new Zildjian snares, the deep one, which didn't sound very good), shaking my head and laughing as Vinnie ...

The David Slonaker record called Shift Paradigms is VERY good! Here is a review from a recent Modern Drummer:

Dave Slonaker Big Band
Shifty Paradigms
Peter Erskine drums
Brian Kilgore percussion
Origin Records

Is there a busier drummer around than Peter Erskine? But as his schedule has gotten even ...

Two great female drummers were honored this year by the annual German Jazz Prize.

Saw the 1981 Houston gig (Escape Tour) on AXIS TV...
SO much better on TV than computer screen from Youtube.
Smith was insane in every way. His relaxed control, his

drum sound he got ...

Chick actually loses 1 on Tumba and asks Vinnie for it resulting in a big SMASH on 1 soon after. Tumba and Humpty are pretty amazing on there - getting the CD and then the videos back then was FUN!

When I saw the Acoustic Band plus 2 (Wallace Roney and Bob Berg) the week or month before in NYC ...

If you haven't heard Wolf's "Mammoth" record, you should. It is a very good record. He plays and sings everything on it, and sounds great. I interviewed him (and Mammoth drummer Garrett Whitlock) for Modern Drummer last year, we talked about the record a lot, how Garrett interprets the drum parts ...

If I remember correctly (and it's possible I'm wrong.) That is not Vinnie.

Vinnie was on the Timezone record (which is AMAZING!!!!!!) and (I think?) this is from Jackmagnet with David Logeman. I asked Vinnie about Timezone once, he said "Yeah we recorded that in Jakob's living room, we were just ...

Gavin is on the cover of the new Modern Drummer with a really long (and great) interview. Amongst many other topics he also discusses (at length) songwriting, the new PT song "Of The New Day," and the entire new PT record and it's origins. Every bar of "Of The New Day" is in a different time ...
