Re: VINNIE - The thread about Colaiuta

Re: VINNIE - The thread about Colaiuta
PER CHAT GPT Artificial Intelligence--
Short answer: it’s probably real, but self-published and lightly verified — not a mainstream trade release.
What I found (quick summary)
The title appears on multiple retailer pages (Amazon, Audible, etc.) with ASIN B0F9LK4RVZ and ISBN-13 979-8284829332 and a May 21, 2025 publication date.
Amazon
+1
An audiobook listing exists on Audible, narrated by a “Virtual Voice” (i.e., computer narration), which is common for small/self-published titles.
Audible.com
Vinnie Colaiuta is of course a real and highly respected drummer — so the subject is legitimate; that makes the title plausible.
Wikipedia
I could not find the book in major library catalogs or independent publishing announcements (WorldCat / Library of Congress entries and coverage are absent or not discoverable in standard searches), which suggests it hasn’t been widely acquired by libraries or promoted through traditional publishing channels yet. (WorldCat/libraries tend to list widely distributed trade titles.)
WorldCat
What that means
The book is very likely a self-published or small-press release (the Amazon pages list it as “Independently published” / Southerland Publishing). That’s not the same as a fake — many legitimate biographies are self-published — but it does explain the lack of library listings and independent reviews.
Amazon
+1
Because it’s new and self-published, you should be cautious if you need it for serious research: small titles can contain original reporting, but they can also contain errors or unverified claims if not editorially vetted.
How you can confirm it further (I can do these for you)
Check inside the book on Amazon’s “Look Inside” (if available) for a copyright page, ISBN, publisher address, acknowledgements, and a foreword — those help establish legitimacy.
Amazon
Search WorldCat / Library of Congress again in a few weeks — libraries sometimes add self-published works later.
WorldCat
Look up the ISBN in Bowker / ISBN agency databases (Bowker Books in Print) to see who registered the ISBN and publisher metadata. (That gives hard info about who issued the ISBN.)
ISBN.org
Check Vinnie Colaiuta’s official site or social media for any announcement (artists often list authorized bios or books about them).
vinniecolaiuta.com
If you want, I can pull the Amazon “Look Inside” preview (if available), search Bowker for the ISBN registration, and scan library catalogs again — I can do those checks right now and report back.

Re: VINNIE - The thread about Colaiuta
I think we'd heard about it long before it came out.
Re: VINNIE - The thread about Colaiuta
If it was real, why would it have a photo of someone else on the cover.
Re: VINNIE - The thread about Colaiuta
Guys it's AI, no question about it. It's typical chatGPT writing: "What astonished him most was that Vinnie didn’t just survive the material — he conversed with it, anticipating and shaping rhythmic turns in ways that required neither coaching nor correction."
yikes!
yikes!

Re: VINNIE - The thread about Colaiuta
Final Word.
Vinnie saw the ad we all saw and said he tried to order it but no luck.
But he did dl a kindle sample. Vinnie does not like it and is disgusted
with it and also noticed the photo is not representative, as we also noted.
So there...we do not have to speculate anymore.
