I really like it. Sounds like he's returned to the Aja/Gaucho/Nightfly era sound. Nothing like it in my opinion. Some people think it's too much like those albums, not progressed enough, but IMO, great music is great music, and I'll take this over most of their post-2000 stuff (which I also enjoy).

Also, the album was produced by his trumpet player Michael Leonhart, who is a multi-instrumentalist and played drums on this track (apparently this is what they did for the whole album, not calling in Carlock)! They credited drums to a fictional character "Earl Cooke Jr." (lol great name, fits the part perfectly) since I think he more played a couple of bars and sliced them together or something like that, but still, I am really impressed. Grooves like a mother.

Just read about this release elsewhere. Looking forward to it - I'm a big fan of the classic Dan. Thanks for posting.

Thanks for the heads up! SD is one of my all time favorite bands, although the Fagan/SD sound seems a bit generic since "Two Against Nature." But, I still love it.

I hope there's more adventurous stuff on this. I like Fagan's stuff a lot, but this sounds like the last album. a lot.
