New Donald Fagen tune from the upcoming new solo record: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TMLDLRSzip8
I really like it. Sounds like he's returned to the Aja/Gaucho/Nightfly era sound. Nothing like it in my opinion. Some people think it's too much like those albums, not progressed enough, but IMO, great music is great music, and I'll take this over most of their post-2000 stuff (which I also enjoy).
Also, the album was produced by his trumpet player Michael Leonhart, who is a multi-instrumentalist and played drums on this track (apparently this is what they did for the whole album, not calling in Carlock)! They credited drums to a fictional character "Earl Cooke Jr." (lol great name, fits the part perfectly) since I think he more played a couple of bars and sliced them together or something like that, but still, I am really impressed. Grooves like a mother.
