This guy reminds me of a real working drummer...not plastered over the pages of
Drum X or Y mag...just passionate about playing for over 30 years.

Thought this might be a good thread...The Working Drummer...not big names we all know...
just guys hitting drums for many years...that might drink coffee

Check out his Mozambique video...SMOOTH.

I love that snare sound...organic, natural to my ears. I emailed about it;
DW 10 ply collector series 6 1/2 x 14.
Aquarian Texture coated batter head - tuned medium hi.
Aquarian classic clear snare bottom - cranked up there
Either a 1/2 piece of Moon Gel or a small piece of gaffers tape to take out some of the overtones
Recorded with a trusty Shure sm57

Great post...this speaks great for a lot of solid, local drummers. Thanks for your thoughts and video.

Good thread idea. Here is Miles Vandiver, definitely one of the most in-demand drummers in the St. Louis area. Great tune, okay sound, pretty bad video quality, but GREAT drumming! Sweet outro + fills at the 8:20 mark. :)

Another one, better quality, with sweet solo at the 3:40 mark:

I know John X! Great drummer and teacher, and great guy, too.

Thanks for this thread!
