Looking to get a electronic drum pad. Want to trigger keyboard sounds, horns and other various sounds. What is a really good electronic pad? I know of the octapad or the Alesis pads. Want something user friendly and also have lots of sound sources. Don't want to use it for drum sounds. Mostly for horn hits and keyboard chords.

Depends on budget, really. Flagships from the Big Two are SPD-SX from Roland and the Yamaha DTX Multi-12.

Yes, you need to set a budget. I think the stock sounds on everything I've ever played are bad, kinda cool for 20 minutes but then annoying. If you want to have very cool sounds you'll need a pad triggering samples you've made yourself or triggering high tech software from a laptop or some other gadget. That requires a lot more time and money.
If you just want a all in one box, try the already mentioned Roland and Yamaha, maybe those will get the job done.

Looks like the Yamaha dtx multi 12 will do the trick. I'm not the one buying it. Keyboard player in the band said he will float the $600 for it. Thanks for the input guys.

You can trigger his keyboard sounds or even start a recorded track from his keyboard with your pad. You just got a new member in your band.

Seems kinda silly for a drummer to be triggering "keyboard chords" when you have a keyboardist....
