2026 Chatty!!!!!

Postby Steve Holmes » Tue Jan 06, 2026 4:39 pm

Wow - we're still doing this! 2025 was an exciting year - 2026 is going to be a game changer in terms of tech (and AI) I feel. We'll see how it continues to affect music.
I love that this website still exists and thanks to those that continue to to visit. Seems like just yesterday I was posting about Vinnie playing the baked Potato in 1999.

So what better way to show new tech and drumming than new footage of JoJo Meyer playing into a computer that generates accompaniment in real time?

Let's keep this going.

2026 will be exiting, but I think we all have a responsibility to keep it real, otherwise what's the point? Everything online will be fake or enhanced, and that reaction may perhaps have a cause and affect for us to pursue live interaction which in tern employs people just like the 1960s and early 70s. Historically we went from hitting a log to create sounds, to building acoustic instruments, to employing and writing music for a full orchestra, to having a 20 piece big band and slowly, little by little we devolved music by using a laptop and a voice into a simulated band with a soloist. Music shouldn't just be fueled just by economics. I do think things are always changing, and with change comes the good, bad and ugly. I see people paying big $$$ to to see live concerts these days. I think it's moving in a better direction lately. I wonder if A.I. is just another bubble like the dot.com era. ??
