I tried that thing when it was first released. Nice try, but basically a total fail. The double sided tape that is supposed to keep those clips in place doesn't stick very long, especially if you transport your drums frequently. Maybe I should have tried using some serious 3M double sided tape. I don't like tape residue on my shells though.

I usually just use duct tape on all of Dave's drums to secure the things.

I might be in the minority, and that's ok, but I don't dig Simon's BD sound too much, it doesn't sit well in the music I hear him play.

It's sounds to my ears a little too high pitched so it cuts and not low enough so it sits.

Everything else sounds great, if also a little too far in the higher registers...

His sound on White City is perfect to me however...that snare is as good a sound as has ever been recorded.

He's rather amazing. He always has been.

I think the most impressive thing to me is Simon's time... which has always been pretty Immaculate. It's ridiculous in this live clip too. I've seldom heard the guy waiver.

I actually prefer Simon's drum sounds from a few years ago, and back from there. In recent years I'm not keen on the rather brittle, "digital sounding" or harder aspects of the kit sound production he's favoured lately. Then I guess I'm a bit out of sorts with this aspect in regard to the way a lot of guy's kits sound on recordings these days. I miss the warmth... the warm punch along with the power.

But back on my main point again, if I want an "accuracy" boost, or to be inspired by someone's true excellence and command of time and meter, I'll always play some Simon and watch in considerable awe!

The videos are great -thanks for the links Juan...looking at them again, what astounds me is the looseness of his bass drum pedals...in one of the clips you can clearly see his left pedal beater swinging back and forth for ages after he's stopped playing it!

what pedals will he use( ah! Iron Cobras,but are they standard, or tweaked at all?), and what tensioning I wonder?
