One of the things I admire about Virgil Donati is his relentless dedication to physical fitness to extend and improve a physical drumming style into his 60s. You look around the upper echelon of drummers and there are very few with a real discipline for fitness in what's inarguably a demanding art.Morgenthaler wrote:Bozzio / Donati Drum Channel talk coming up soon:

I learned some Steely for a jam I had with a bass player friend.
Dennis really has the best feel for Aja, wow.

Even when living small you can still cook your breakfast steak properly.

Good hang with Vinnie yesterday
One of the more interesting things is that he's not really against teaching. He's appatrently been thinking about that a lot, but hasn't come up with something that's interactive in the right way for him to do it. I'm actually considering sending him a message about that as the relation to what I've been doing very successfully, which also is much of what has gotten me in trouble with all these narcs would maybe fit the bill. It's just as much a concept as specific things, but it has worked very well for me in 10 different schools. It's a way to have your cake and eat it too that seems to really work for everybody at once also during the period before all practicalities fall into place. One would not only be able to learn from concept in the most basic way, but to understand it from a teachers standpoint be into all these other things Vinnie talks about. He's one of very few people who have shown a personality style and insight on a level that he would probably be able to understand what I'm doing. It sadly goes way above most people's heads.
On the sticks, if I were to make a guess, there may be more than one model. He's been just trying a bunch and I don't believe his new stick will be the same as before, but having him say how aware he is about people missing his old stick I kinda suspect he may decide to do the Weckl thing if the company will let him.
He got the pad out and talked about and demonstrated quite a bit of technique.
I'm still very much not very functional and way to tired to think clearly and ask any questions myself that late in the evening. I can function semi normal for half a day on a good day. It's either go for a hike or practice. Rarely energy for both in the same day.

Thanks, yeah I really dig it there. There's so much space to get in andSteve Holmes wrote:Nice space!
around the kits and still it has nice acoustics. Also cheaper than my previous place. Win/win/win.
