Vinnie's grip
Hello from London!! Does anyone have an idea why Vinnie has switched to matched grip? I've noticed this in the vast majority of a lot of recent clips that have been released. Do you think it has anything to do with his neck issues?

Re: Vinnie's grip
I certainly think it's health related combined with the fact that he was doing some heavier hitting gigs (Jeff Beck) and he was worried that the orthodox grip was going to hurt his thumb.

We'll he's always played both.
He plays more matched now, but sort of goes back to traditional when he's playing the old lick's. Switches within a song.
From what I know he can't do gigs atm, but he's getting better and does some studio things.

Switched to matched grip?
Vinnie has been playing traditional and matched grip since the 1960s.
The footage of his playing w/ FZ shows 100% matched grip playing during the FZ concerts.

Yes Jean, Dazz', Jean is right, and, he switches without even thinking about it.

Re: Vinnie's grip
For the vast majority of gigs in the last few decades it's been trad, hence the question. Yes of course I've seen him play matched, but not to the extent that he has been in the vast majority of recent gigs and sessions that have been captured.
