This is from the era when I would sneak down to watch his show.

Out of all the solo drummers this week Sheila E is the best. Haven't seen Neils solo and don't need to. Sheila has more chops than Neil. It's all cheese anyhow. Pure sadness and stinky with a dash of vomit . Pathetic line up. What about Vinnie, Dave, Virgil, Dom F, Smith, Benny G... the list of kick ass drum solosts is pretty extensive yet they chose these hackers. Hack kack hack. I guess having Neil hack away up there is ok. He is one of the drum gods. Age gets us all.

Easy there.... Just 'cause you don't like their playing doesn't make them hacks. Show some respect please. It's television after all. Not the ideal medium or situation for anyone.

I liked Roy the best to far. I dig the tune actually, which helped. I have a feeling the remaining drummers will be :

First, was Roy Haynes really using Weckl sticks? Who woulda seen that one comin?

Second, say what you will, but the drum sound this week has been outstanding. It's the one thing I've been enjoying.

Hey Matt, I think Roy's signature stick from Z is almost the same shade as the original weckl stick, only slightly more walnut.

I was not impressed with Fig's phx sound.:| And I have 16 watt laptop speakers combined with a 28 bit sound card so I do have some clarity...:)

I wondered about that. Weird choice of color. It would be like doing a black coated signature stick -- everyone thinks of Gadd.

Haha. Ok. I hate how Neil's drums and cymbals wobble around constantly. That would drive me nuts!!!
