You know what, Juan? I had a quick listen to the track again, and I agree about the snare drum level. Thanks for pointing that one out.
If I remember correctly I also mixed it fast with a cheap set of ear-plugs (so nothing fancy).
Yes, that BD mounted is an old 80´s Tama Superstar Gong Drum 22"x14" which sounds huge. They make them only in 20" now, as far as I know (and this one´s in birch too).

I recorded the thing through the Focusrite Liquid Saffire 56 interface and also a Focusrite Octopre LE (connected together with Adat) and recording into Logic Pro.
I see I used the Nice Wood Reverb (Space Designer plug in) which I believe I read somewhere that Gavin Harrison also have used quite a bit on his recordings. It sounds quite nice. I usually do find it difficult to find a nice reverb I am happy with, so some nice tips along the way is very welcome. Have you guys and reverb presets you dial into in Logic Pro?
One new thing I tried with this recording, was to utilize the Blumlein stereo miking technique (google it) along with a normal spaced OH pair. So I used the Audio Technica AT-4050 for Blumlein (in front of the kit) and the Octava MK-12 for the spaced OH pair.
Close miking are SM57 snare, Electro Voice N/D 308´s on toms and a Røde NT1A on the Gong Drum. No hi-hat mic. I had a look at the project and I see I hardly used any EQ too, so the drum sound is quite natural (with a little reverb and compression only).
