Love "A Farewell To Kings". Xanadu? Unreal. Still.
Here’s a fun one…
The unison riff (kick/spashes and bass) that Neil and Geddy play in the new tune sounded very familiar to me.
Anyone remember Bastille Day from “Caress of Steel”?
Here's a short clip of part of the new song followed by part of Bastille Day.

If you can’t “borrow” from yourself, who can you steal, err... uhh.. borrow from?

Yeah, I caught the nod to Bastille Day right off the bat on first listen. That was another great record: Caress of Steel.

"A Farewell to Kings" is a favorite. Rockfield studios in Wales. Tons of great records made there. "Caress of Steel" is fantastic but probably considered their worst one of the early stuff. I used to play in a band years ago that played "I Think I'm Going Bald". It's not great as far as the song itself but I love Neil's playing on it.

I grew up on the keyboard era as Grace Under Pressure was the first cassette I bought so i'm probably in the minority - for me Signals, GUP, Power Windows & Hold your Fire were classics!
Turn the page, Time Stands Still, Marathon, Red Lenses, Body Electric, Chemistry...the list goes on.
As time went on I began to work my way back thru the early stuff. Seemed like every 4 albums they perfected a sound, did a live album and then came back with a fresh new approach.
They completely lost me with/after Vapor Trails

If something I click isn't immediately amazing these days then it gets closed. This is probably not good but is how I am sometimes. Sometimes.
I really like that Rush has never done a re-union because they've never stopped playing, unlike a lot of big bands over the years. I'm glad they're still around making music because I like them. Their music just doesn't have the same impact on me though. I wonder what younger generations think of them.

This member of the younger generation thinks they are awesome.

Well, I never really could, I'm afraid.

It's amazing how much more clarity there was in the old days. though i'm listening to it on a macbook (which has some of the worst speakers of all time) but i can't even make out the notes of the new recording. I can hear the 16th notes clear as day on the Bastille Day clip. Thanks for posting, I was losing my mind trying to figure out which song it was that it sounded like...
Though i'm not in love with the new song I look forward to more stuff. Worst case scenario, you have a few new songs that you don't love, but get to see them play "Moving Pictures" front to end live... I'm glad they're still at it. I actually really enjoyed the first half of "Snakes and Arrows".
peace, sammy j
