soaking is good, but you might need cold, not hot water. if you have inflammation, hot water can make it worsen. same with massage, though i like massaging that fleshy area below the thumb.
Thanx man. That was really nice. I have already increased my speed in 20%. No, I'm joking... but it felt really good to start playing after those stretches.

glad it worked for you. i really like that final stretch where he pulls the thumb gently up. that's the one that did it for me, in terms of relief.

Made it through the gig fine (new drums were AWESOME so that helped) - thanks for all the help everyone!
