Lovely collection, Mark... I like the idea of giving the students the chance to pick a snare and experience and feel a fine instrument. Congrats!
Those Yammies were basically a NOS kit from Japan... New ones comes with YESS III I think. I´m loving them. They sound even better than they look! :)

No flex. I guess because it has more area to attach to? It really becomes apparent if you try to shake the cowbell with your hand. No movement.

After all these years I have always wanted to be "THAT GUY" with an odd size tom, made a call to Yamaha and was able to grab a 15 x 13 mounted RC floor tom.....

Freaking love it.....

Excuse the ugliness of my cowbell. It sounds 1000 times better than it looks. :)
I think I must have been influenced by your post, because about a week and a half ago I bought this off Ebay.

$5.99, how could I resist?

I can't describe the sound as extraordinary, but it is unique.

It sounds an "F", and it's medium-sized, so now I have small, medium and large bells in that pitch.

I like to mount bells in complementary pitches on vintage WFL/Ludwig cymbal stands. I replace the cymbal tilter extension with a 3/8" rod.

Then, they all get to vibrating and singing together.

Installed the Beatwave iPhone app yesterday and played around with it a little.

Here are two loops I made. I think it sounds good enough to be usable in some situations
where you need a practice loop or to feed ideas into different situations.

I got the coolest Danmar felt beaters!!! I would like to get all the colors someday. Kinda like changing nail polish. BTW Frank Devito, the owner of Danmar, played drums on Surfin' USA.

How would you describe their weight, as compared to the DW 2-sided beaters, or the Tama Iron Cobra flat faced round beaters?

My all time favorite piece of gear is still the DW 9000 hi-hat stand. I'm interested in trying their new direct drive double pedals and Dunnett's new snares.

I bought one of those a few months back and found it to be too wobbly. I returned it after one rehearsal. It was also a bit of an ordeal to set up and take down.

The feel was very nice, I must admit.
